Austria Peak is a fantastic full-day hike in the Royal Adean Range in a region of lakes and peaks known as Condoriri located in La Paz – Bolivia.

Austria Peak (5,350 m / 17,552 ft) is one of the most rewarding full-day hikes in the Condoriri region, part of the stunning Cordillera Real in La Paz, Bolivia. Known for its breathtaking mountaineering scenery, this area is dotted with glacial lakes and jagged peaks, offering a true high-Andes experience.

Austria Peak is widely regarded as the ideal acclimatization hike for those planning to climb higher summits in the region. Its privileged location provides one of the best natural viewpoints in the Cordillera Real. From the summit, you'll enjoy panoramic views of the Condoriri Massif, Lake Titicaca, the north face of Huayna Potosí (6,088 m / 19,973 ft), and much more.

This hike is perfect for adventurers eager to reach over 5,000 meters in a single day. The route begins at approximately (4,500 m /14,763 ft) and ascends to (5,350 m. / 17,552 ft.), taking about 5 to 6 hours round-trip. The trail offers a steady and scenic ascent, making it an excellent acclimatization route for future high-altitude climbs.

Condoriri trek  2 day  With this two-day trek, you will gradually reach the summit of Pico Austria (5,350 m).
The first day is for acclimatization, with an easy hike up to 4,700 meters, where you will spend the night.
On the second day, you'll make the final ascent to the summit, enjoying spectacular views of the Cordillera Real.

ITINERARY:

    1

    La Paz City (3600m. / 11,811 ft). - Austria peak (5350 m./17,552ft.) - La paz City La Paz City (3600m. /11,811 ft)

    07:00 a.m. – Meeting at our office or at the previously agreed meeting point (e.g., hotel or plaza).

    We will depart by vehicle toward the Andean highlands, on a journey of approximately 3 hours outside the city until we reach Rinconada (4,500 m / 14,763 ft), the starting point of our hike.

    We’ll begin with a gentle uphill walk of about one hour, passing a small lagoon, until we reach the beautiful Chiar Khota Lake (4,700 m / 15,419 ft), the largest in the area.

    From there, we’ll start the more challenging ascent to Pico Austria (5,350 m / 17,552 ft), which will take us approximately 3 additional hours. Upon reaching the summit, we’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views: the majestic Condoriri Mountain, shaped like a condor with outstretched wings, Lake Titicaca, the western face of Huayna Potosí, and numerous peaks of the Cordillera Real.

    The descent back to Rinconada will take around 1 hour and half.

    Finally, we’ll board our vehicle for the return trip to La Paz, with an estimated travel time of 2.5 hours.

    Estimated arrival time in La Paz: 7:00 p.m.

CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT:

1.-  Confirmation and payment:    

  • After confirming the tour with payment
  • The confirmation is  valid for the date and time indicated on it. The customer is responsible for the tour and must prevent factors that can make themselves sick or injure that can cause to loss the trip

2.-  Tour cancellations :

  • 7 days or more  before the trip day  25% penalty from total price,
  • a day  before trip day    50% penalty from total price,
  • on  departure  day    100% penalty from total price,

3.-  Postponements:

  • A day or more  before the tour day  0% penalty  up to 17:00pm
  • A day  before tour day  30% penalty  17:00pm to 23:59 pm
  • on  departure  day    100% penalty from total price

4.- Insurance:

  • The customer will make the tour on his/her own and full responsibility.
  • The price does not include travel insurance against accident, life and medical expenses of any kind.

5.- Climatological Factors:

  • The customer is responsible for choosing his/her travel date.  If, because of bad weather, the tour can not be completed. there is not refund.
