Condoriri Massif + Pequeño Alpamayo – 4Day

Cabeza Del Condor at 5648m is one of the most imposing peaks in the Condoriri massif. As the highest and one of the most technically difficult in the área of Condoriri, Condoriri massif is a truly amazing. It has a Condor Shape, its open wings to the north and south sides, and its head.

In the area there are a dozen summits to climb wich are surrounding lagoon Chiarkhota, our base camp to start climbing the area.

 

Physical Requirements

To Climb Cabeza Del Condor at 5648m. variety of scenarios and the skills are needed. Wich makes it an exciting challenged to many mountaineers.

Not recommended to beginners.

To climb Pequeño Alpamayo is physically demanding, as the high altitude. For that reason is recommended for who will climb it. Has a good fitness, acclimatization and have experience in high mountains, knowing well the use of technical mounatineering material. becasuse it will make the climb easier and more enjoyable.

Weather Conditions

 As its high altitude, it is constantly cold all year round, with temperatures dropping below 0 degrees celsius. Most of the time is around – 15 degrees during the climb.

For that reason is recomended to climb with suitable equipment.

Best season to climb

 The best season to climb is between May and September,  as this is the dry season in Bolivia, and will ensure optimal climbing conditions.

ITINERARY:

8:30 am Meeting at our Office or at the meeting point La Paz – Bolivia
9:00 am we will drive for about 3 hours out of the city and through the Andean highlands until Rinconada (14,7639 ft./4500 m) from where we start the trek.
1:00 pm We will walk 2 hours to reach Base Camp (15,419 ft./4700 m).
3:00 pm Arrival at Base Camp. later free time, during the afternoon to enjoy the view of mountain Condori accompanied by hot drinks.
5:00 pm Dinner and Night in Tents or at Refuge.

2:00 am Wake up, breakfast, and preparation with climbing equipment.
2:30 am Ascent 5 to 6 hours to the top, we start on a fairly flat road until we reach the ice and snow of the glacier. We continue climbing up slopes of up to 30 degrees until we reach Pico Tarija (17,388 ft./5,300 m).

After Pico Tarija, we climb the two most difficult slopes with an incline of 45 to 50 degrees for 60 meters and 40 meters respectively.

Approximately 9:00 am, After the last steep section, we reach the summit of Pequeño Alpamayo (17,814 ft./5430 m) where we can appreciate the view of the Andean highlands, the Cordillera Real and the subtropics. We stayed on the summit long enough to enjoy the view and take photos.
The descent to the base camp will take approximately 3 hours.

Aproximatly, we  Will back o base camp 12:30 pm

We Will have free afternon to take a rest then we have dinner after all night  at Base Camp.

This Day Will be to rest and recover energy for our net ascend, which Will be the head of the condor.

We leave the Camp at 02:00 am.

In the first section we will walk along a slope moraine that leads us to the foot of the glacier. Having reached the base of the glacier we get all of our technical gear ready and start climbing on slopes between 40 to 45 degrees of inclination. Once we get to the base of the  condorirri head. we will enter a narrow cannon pitch, where is mix of technical ice/rock climbing. After passing that pitch we  reach to the crest from where will keep going by the crest towards  Summit. Finaly we arrive to (5648m./ 18530ft.) The summit of Mountain Condoriri (Cabeza Del Condor.)

 

We’ll climb down following the same track to reach base camp  Aproximatly 01:00 pm   and later walk down 1 hour until Rincianda where the  car is gon to waiting us t take us back to La Paz City.

Arrival time in a La Paz City 6:00 pm Aproximatly

INCLUDED:

  • Professional guide for every 2 customers.

  • Sleeping bag rated to – 15 º c (Opcional to rent 60 BS).
  • Headlamp, If  the customer does not have it  will be included just the customer needs to buy the batteries 3 AAA to use it.
  • Backpack (minimum 50 liter capacity)
  • Trekking pants and leggings
  • Fleece jacket and down jacket
  • 3 pairs of socks (one thick)
  • Snacks (Chocolates, sweets, fresh fruits etc., for ascent to the Summit).
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunblock
  • 2 liters of water
  • Personal medication for altitude sickness
  • Thin liner gloves with fingers of woolen or fleece
