Takesi Inca Trail: The pre-Columbian Takesi trail is an original Inca’s route that begins in Choquecota village and ends in the subtropical valleys of the Yungas; There are several attractions such as Takesi village, Camp Kakapi, Camp Chojlla, etc., and it crosses important ecological areas with coca leaf plantations, vegetable, and fruit plantations. Its paved paths and steps remain in good condition to this day, attracting thousands of trekking and ecotourism lovers. We offer this hike in 2 or 3 days.

Day 1: La Paz to San Francisco Mine to Estancia Takesi

Day 2:  Estancia Takesi to Chojlla Mine to La Paz

ITINERARY:

    La Paz (3600m. / 11,811 ft.) - Choquecota (3,900 m. / 12,795 ft.) - Kacapi

    Departure from La Paz towards the city of Choquecota 3,900 m. by a private transportation that will take around 2h 30 min. approximately from there, we will start our hike, passing by the San Francisco Mine and a stunning landscape of the Mururata mountain. Then, we will begin going up until we reach the Apacheta at 4,700 m., where the weather starts to get colder. Then, we go down through the mountainous landscape until we arrive at Takesi village, we will see the mainly home to llama and alpaca herders. After, we continue our hike on a path with abundant vegetation until we arrive at Camp Kacapi, where we will spend the night in this place. The hiking time will be around 7 – 8 hours (17 km).

    CAMP KAKAPI-CHOJLLA MINE-LA PAZ CITY

    We will get up early and have breakfast before continuing our hike. We will go down and as we do so, the valleys become more tropical and lusher, we will cross rivers and have beautiful views in the lower valleys. It will take us half day to reach the mining town of Chojlla, where we end our hike and take our delicious lunch and transportation back to La Paz city. The hiking time will be around 3 – 4 hours (7 km).

To make easier, we prepared a list of essential things to bring for Taquesi 2 day trip:

PLEASE BRING:

  • 2 liters of water for the first day of the trek
  • Sunblock
  • Insect repellent
  •  Snacks
  • Trekking shoes
  • Raincoat
  • Trekking Clothes
  • Recommended Trekking Poles
  • Sleeping bag - 3 degree (We have Optional to rent ).
  • Backpack with sufficient space to carry your personal belongings and sleeping bag, mattres, tent.  (recomended 30 -40 liter capacity).  (We have Optional to rent )

Note:

Personal porter is not included. (We have Optional to here porter service 90 dollars ).

- If you take the porter will carry your personal belongings plus sleeping bag, mattres, tent up to a weight limit of 20 kilos. One porter can be shared by 2 or 3 customers.

CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT

The mountaineering and hiking tours that we offer are highly risky, the customers decides to take the tour with their own experience and travel under our conditions. 1.-  Confirmation and payment:    
  • After confirming the tour with payment. The confirmation is  valid for the date and time indicated on it.
  • The customer is responsible for the tour and must prevent factors that can make themselves sick or injure that can cause to loss the trip
2.-  Tour cancellations :
  •        12 days  before trip day  30% penalty from total price.
  •        7 days  before trip day  45% penalty from total price,
  •        a day  before trip day    60% penalty from total price,
  •        on  departure  day    100% penalty from total price,
3.-  Postponements:
  •       7 days or more  before the tour day  30% penalty from total price,
  •        A day  before tour day  40% penalty from total price,
  •     on  departure  day    100% penalty from total price
4.- Insurance:
  •                 The customer will make the tour on his/her own and full responsibility.
  •                 The price does not include travel insurance against accident, life and medical expenses of any kind.
5.- Climatological Factors: The customer is responsible for choosing his/her travel date.  If, because of bad weather, the tour can not be completed. there is not refund. 6.- Equipment losses or damages during the tour:
  •  The customer is responsible for taking care of all the equipment that we provide.
  • – In case of damages or losses of any of the gear, the customer must pay for it at the end of the tour.
