ITINERARY:

    01

    La Paz - Chullpas - Church of Curahuara de Carangas - Sajama Village – natural hot springs

    7:30 a.m. – We begin our journey to Sajama National Park from the vibrant city of La Paz. Leaving the city behind, we drive west, passing through El Alto.

    After approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes of travel, we arrive at the Chullpas de Curahuara de Carangas, ancient stone burial towers built by pre-Incan cultures.

    Next, we visit the Church of Curahuara de Carangas, often called the “Sistine Chapel of the Altiplano” for its exquisite colonial frescoes.

    1:00 p.m. (approximately) – We arrive at the village of Sajama, where a delicious lunch awaits us.

    After lunch, we set out to explore the park’s stunning landscapes. Choose your ideal trail—whether an easy walk or a challenging hike—and later, relax in the park’s natural hot springs. We will also visit a nearby village to meet locals and learn about the rare kheñua tree and other native flora.

    7:00 p.m. – We enjoy dinner together, then spend the night at a hostel with private bathrooms.

    02

    Sajama Village – Geyser Field – Return to La Paz

    After breakfast, we take a short morning drive from Sajama Village to a nearby, a fascinating geothermal area where jets of steam and bubbling hot water rise from the earth. Surrounded by the dramatic backdrop of snowcapped peaks, this natural wonder offers a surreal landscape to explore and photograph. The quietness of the area makes it feel like a hidden gem — an unforgettable moment of connection with nature’s raw energy.

    After enjoying some time at the geysers, we return to Sajama Village for lunch. In the afternoon, we begin our journey back toward La Paz City, passing through the high-altitude altiplano and enjoying the sweeping views of the Andean plateau along the way.

    We arrive back in La Paz City around 7:30 p.m., where you can settle into your hotel or take the evening to relax and reflect on the incredible natural beauty of the Sajama region.
