Your journey begins in La Paz, winding through Andean valleys and small traditional villages before reaching the tranquil beauty of Sajama. Along the way, visit the Chullpares of Macaya—mysterious pre-Columbian burial towers that hold centuries of history—and admire the breathtaking Sistine Chapel of Curahuara de Carangas, renowned for its vivid colonial frescoes.

Once inside the park, discover a land shaped by geothermal activity: see the bubbling geysers of Walla Keru, and soothe your body in the natural hot springs with mineral-rich, medicinal waters—perfect for relaxation after a day of exploration. For nature lovers, a gentle walk through the enchanting queñua forests, known as the highest-altitude forests in the world, offers both tranquility and incredible photo opportunities.

ITINERARY:

Day 01 :
La Paz - Chullpas - Church of Curahuara de Carangas - Lagoonilla Lagoon - Sajama Village – Natural Hot Springs

8:00 a.m. – We begin our journey to Sajama National Park from the vibrant city of La Paz. Leaving the city behind, we drive west, passing through El Alto.

After approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes of travel, we arrive at the Chullpas de Curahuara de Carangas, ancient stone burial towers built by pre-Incan cultures.

Next, we visit the Church of Curahuara de Carangas, often called the “Sistine Chapel of the Altiplano” for its exquisite colonial frescoes.

Before reaching Sajama village, we will stop to visit the town of Lagunas and The Lagunas Lagoon is a unique place that we cannot miss on this adventure.

2:00 p.m. (approximately) – We arrive at the village of Sajama, where our hostel is awaits us.

we set out to explore the park’s stunning landscapes. Choose your ideal trail whether an easy walk or a challenging hike and later, relax in the park’s natural hot springs.

7:00 p.m. – We enjoy dinner together, then spend the night at a hostel with private bathrooms.

Day 02 :
Sajama Village – Geyser Field -Queñua Trees- Huayna Khota Lagoon - Tomarapi Village - Tomarapi church - La Paz City

8:00 am breakfast

After breakfast, we’ll take a short morning drive from Sajama Village to a nearby geothermal area, where jets of steam and bubbling hot water rise dramatically from the earth (Geyser Field). Set against the stunning backdrop of snowcapped peaks, this natural wonder offers a surreal landscape perfect for exploration and photography. In this area, we can also admire the unique queñua trees, part of one of the highest-growing forests in the world.

After visiting the geysers, we’ll visit Sajama church then continue to the community of Tomarapi, just 20 minutes from Sajama. Here, we’ll explore its historic church and marvel at the Huayna Khota (or Wañaquta) Lagoon, a true natural paradise. Along the way, the impressive queñua forest that lines our route will provide breathtaking scenery.

We are expected to arrive in the city of La Paz at approximately 7:00 p.m.
