Nights Climbing Huayna Potosí 6088m is Bolivia ’s most popular major peak in the Cordillera Real. Located at just 25 km from the city of La Paz, Huayna Potosi is known for its ease of access and imposing beauty as well as the fact that it is 88 meters over the magic 6000 meter figure. Huayna Potosi can be climbed by beginners with a competent guide and technical equipment. Beginners yes, but fit beginners; it’s quite steep toward the end and it’s a tough climb, but well worth the effort!
Our three day itinerary includes an afternoon of basic mountaineering instruction and a night of acclimatization at the 4700 meter base camp level, both of which increase your chance of summit success to climb Huayna Potosi 6088m.
This climb is for all the people who would like to climb over 6000 meter without high knowledge mountaineering techniques.
Physical Requirements
Although Huayna Potosí is usually deemed as the easiest climb over 6000 meters, it should not be taken lightly. Huayna Potosi can be climbed by complete beginners, that is true. Huayna Potosi is physically demanding, as the high altitude.
For that reason is recommended for who will climb it. Has a good fitness and acclimatization, becasuse it will make the climb easier and more enjoyable.
Weather Conditions to climb Huayna Potosí
As its high altitude, it is constantly cold all year round, with temperatures dropping below 0 degrees celsius. Most of the time is around – 10 degrees during the climb.
For that reason is recomended to climb with suitable equipment.
Best season to climb Huayna Potosí
The best season to climb Huayna potosí is between May and November, as this is the dry season in Bolivia, and will ensure optimal climbing conditions.
As it is a mountain with a higher demand, it is climbed all year round. including the rainy season (choosing the best days to climb).
Obviously, the success rate is less in the rainy season. Because the climb is more hader with layers of fresh snow and sometimes with bad weather condition can not be Summited.
Huayna Potosí - Climbing Route
Most of the people climb the Normal Route (the north Summit 6088m.) for its ease of Access and. Ascend and descend is on same route.
From high camp to Summit, the ascend usually lasts between 5 – 6 hours and descend from Summit to high camp between 2 – 3 hours.

ITINERARY
Day 1
An afternoon practice in basic mountaineering techniques on the glacier of Huayna Potosi
8:30 am Meeting at Our Office in La Paz - Bolivia. 9:00 am Departure to Nevado Huayna Potosí 2 hours by transport. 11:30 am arrival at Base Camp (4700 masl). 12:00 pm Lunch, 1:30 pm we will walk between 40 minutes and 1 hour to get up to the old glacier, where we have an afternoon of basic mountaineering technique practice on the glacier at the base of the mountain. we will practice for around 2 hours before returning to the base camp for hot drinks 19:00 pm dinner and night in shelter at Base Camp.
Day 2
Ascent to high camp.
8:00 am Breakfast, later preparation of the backpacks. 12:00 pm Lunch, then ascent to High Camp (5200 m.a.s.l.) 2 hours of walking. 15:00 pm arrival at High Camp Refuge, 15:15 pm hot drinks to hydrate during the afternoon 17:00 pm Dinner, and night in shelter at High Camp.
Day 3
Summit attempt and return to La Paz City
Our day will begin very early. Wake up time will be around midnight and we will get dressed with the climbing clothing and equipment and have breakfast. Around 1:00 AM we will begin the ascent. We will have short breaks to rest and eat chocolates and drink water during the ascent. We plan to arrive at the summit around sunrise in order to appreciate the wonderful view of the highlands, the surrounding Cordillera Real, Lake Titicaca, and the ever unique sunrise itself. Our descent to high camp will take 2 – 3 hours and upon arrival we will have vegetable soup and hot drinks. At the high camp we will re-pack our backpacks and make the 1 hour descent to base camp. We usually arrive at our office in La Paz between 1:00 PM. and 2:00pm

DURING THE CLIMB, WE SPEND THE NIGHTS AT LODGES / REFUGES:Huayna Potosi, Base Camp lodge, jiwaki Base Camp Lodge at 4700m.
The shelter is built of brick, with a sloping floor, the rest suitable to conserve heat in cold temperatures. The refuge has 2 shared bedrooms for clients, a bedroom for guides, kitchen and bathroom inside the refuge, there are also bathrooms outside the refuge.

High Camp Lodge at 5200m.
Made of stone. groove floor, walls protected with plaster and wood to contain heat. Also this refuge has a shared room for customers and a separate room for guides, ecological bathroom.
GEAR FITING:
Gear fitting is usually done the day before the start of your trip. At our office betweem 10:00 am to 18:00pm, where you will try gear to make sure you will get right zise.
At that time, we will help you with all your enquiries or questions that you got.
If you do not have time to come the day before of your trip for gear fitting at our office. Do not worry, you can do it on the same departure day. Just come at 8:30am we will take 30 minutes to try the gear then at 9:05 am is departure.
If the cutomers try the gear a day before the trip, so has time to be at our office up to 8:50 am for departure.
NOTE:in case you do not have place where you can store your personal gear during the trip. Always we have space at our workshop where you can leave your personal gear during the trip also we can lend you a bag to store it.
Maybe you got some mountaineering chothing by your own, bring them you can use during the tour.
In case you do not know what to bring for trip, from your personal gear like clothing. Just bring everything that you got and at our office we will help to chose the right gear or clothing.
Just to let you know, also you can store thing that are not necesary for the climb at the lodge of Base Camp and pick them up on way down before retun to La Paz City.
CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT:
The mountaineering and hiking tours that we offer are highly risky, the customers decides to take the tour with their own experience and travel under our conditions.
1.- Confirmation and payment:
After confirming the tour with payment.
The confirmacion is valid for the date and time indicated on it.
The customer is responsible for the tour and must prevent factors that can make themselves sick or injure that can cause to loss the trip
2.- Tour cancellations :
From the date of reservación until one day before the trip 20% penalty from total price.
On departure day 60 % penalty from total price.
3.- Postponements:
A day before tour day 0% penalty up 19:00 pm,
A day before tour day 15% penalty up 19:00 pm to 23:59 pm.
on departure day 40% penalty from total price,
4.- Insurance:
The customer will make the tour on his/her own and full responsibility.
The price does not include travel insurance against accident and medical expenses of any kind.
5.- Climatological Factors:
In case of bad weather conditions the tour can not be completed. In such cases, the company reserves the right to cancel or modify the tour without liability, and no refunds will be provided.
6.- Equipment losses or damages during the tour:
The customer is responsible for taking care of all the equipment that we provide for the tour.
- In case of damages or losses of any of the gear, the customer will pay for it at the end of the tour.
